Earth Day Festival

Montessori Del Mar Students sang proudly onstage at Noyo Food Forest Earth Day Celebration on May 7th. The day began with an onstage introduction and a large circle of friends.

The children were the opening act of the day, complete with violin performers and heartfelt song.

After the show, the students had their faces painted, visited the 4H goats and bunnies and enjoyed “pedal-powered” smoothies.

May Newsletter

This month, the children of Montessori del Mar have been busy singing, test taking and working on their reports and drawings for next week's presentations.

They performed their Earth Day songs for the parents during Mother's Day Tea at the Learning Center and then onstage at Noyo Food Forest Earth Day Festival. Last week the 2nd through 5th graders were excited to take the STAR test and seemed to enjoy the change of pace. Read more about our Learning Center in our May Newsletter.

Our Healthy Classroom

Food preparation is part of the life skills curriculum at Montessori del Mar and this involves care of self and the environment. The children learn about nutritious, healthy foods throughout the year, including preparation, serving and cleaning-up of the daily snack.

Parents are asked to pack minimally processed foods for lunch and anything packaged or containing refined sugar is not welcome in the classroom. The lunchboxes around the classrooms are filled with vegetables, sandwiches fruit and salads.

Parents are asked to pack only healthy, balanced meals in reusable containers that the child can manipulate by him or herself. The learning Center strives for a zero waste lunch.

All snacks during the day are parent contributed and include organic nuts, fruits and vegetables.

We take pride in our healthy classroom!
